Sick rhymes, nice beats
[dropcap]R[/dropcap]ugged pedigreed emcee R.A.W. is back with a pair of dope singles/vids off his latest album The Meal Ticket 2. He gives us double the reason to tune into his vicious flow on “My Fault/Lean in My Cup” which features the talents of his Partner in Rhyme, Nitty. It’s always great to hear lyricists do their thing and R.A.W. goes to work as he drops consistently delivers punch line after solid punch line. Here’s my official $.02…
The Good: This guy is a beast… period. He had quite a few lines in there that made me raise my eyebrows. The flow and rhyme patterns congeal almost flawlessly with the heart pounding rhythm. The hooks on both tracks are solid. I’ve been whistling the refrain from “My Fault” since I pressed play.
Bad: The music can conceal only so much. The camera views are fine, but the transitions and edits are sub-par. There are the amateurish blending overlay transitions which would have come out much better as just cuts, the constant over exposure shots, and the apparent lack of lighting. However, these rookie mistakes can be fixed by developing an eye for editing.
Overall: Despite all shortcomings, “My Fault/Lean in My Cup” is a decent audio/visual experience. If the video doesn’t move you, the music most definitely will. I’d suggest checking it out, especially if you’re an avid Hardcore Hip-Hop fan. That’s my $.02. What’s yours?
