Conceptual depth, recording quality, FX
Rapper Luciano Van Just dropped “To the Point”, the lead single and video from his latest project, The Voyager. The slow-flow track is a diamond in the rough which needs just a little bit more polish to become a staple in the minds of the listener. Luciano’s flow is fluid with the accompanying rhythm; it moves sinuously with the accompanying instrumentation. However, the song’s flow doesn’t mask the lack of depth and the poor recording quality and those are two aspects that can’t be overlooked.
The theme of the video is rudimentary, yet there is something alluring about it. Director Slick Sosa provides adequate visuals for Luciano. The special effects are limited to traversing between monochrome and natural colors. Despite the lack of effects, the film quality is actually pretty good.
To get “To the Point” to where it should be, Luciano should re-record the track to raise its sound quality, tap deeper into his lyrical creativity to produce eyebrow-raising content, and collaborate with Slick Sosa to develop a solid theme for the video.
