No sense of direction
[dropcap]R[/dropcap]apper B9z sent us over his latest video, “Unleaded” which features up and comer Juntao. I’m kind of at a loss for words after viewing it (and that’s not necessarily a good thing). Here’s my official $.02…
The Good: I like the theme of the song. B9’z and Juntao trade lines of how “gassed up” some people are. They make it very clear that an inflated ego could be hazardous to your health. The flow is pretty cool, the song’s hook is kind of catchy and the beat bangs harder than a jackhammer on concrete.
The Bad: I understand the symbolic nature of rapping in front of a gas station, but having one guy in your crew two-stepping with a pump while you rhyme makes you one drop of gasoline away from a burn unit. The video comes off very amateurish. The quality of the video is well below average, the cameraman couldn’t keep the shots steady (they make tripods for that) and the extras in the video don’t add any value to the overall feel of the visuals. Director TheIcentmusic totally missed the mark with this one.
Overall: As I stated earlier, I’m truly at a loss for words. With that said, I’ll follow the rule that Pop Dukes set forth for me; “If you can’t say anything nice, say nothing at all”. But I will give some advice; step your directorial game up! Press play at your own risk. That’s my $.02. What’s yours?
