There’s nothing like a shot of pure adrenaline to get the day started. Finnish Metal/Hardcore group, Alasin, set your mind ablaze with their commanding percussion, slashing guitar runs and brazen vocals. Their latest video “Aggressio” is an adrenaline rush of pure Hardcore at its finest.
The Finnish word Aggressio means aggression in English which serves as the video’s explosive theme. Alasin personifies the word through their vigorous musicianship. Drums and guitars are punished as Vesa Siltanen (guitar/ vox), Antti Halsvaha (bass/vox) and Ville Ruuskanen (drums) wail away at their instruments and provide a volatile platform for vocalist Jani Leinikka to ignite his fiery words. Leinikka’s words pierce the mind like a scalpel piercing as he growls:
each war lost at start
each word dies on lips
each strike hurts yourself
each one of us – blinded and toothless
you mistake yourself for strong
but your mind is weak
you don’t listen to reason
so this is all just waste of time
Director Anssi Ikonen captures each capricious moment through an array of close up shots, a series of moving camera angles and gratuitous camera shakes. The genius editing masks the lack of a true story line and allows for you to just tune in and enjoy the video.
Fans of Heavy Metal/Hardcore will truly enjoy the power and passion displayed in this pugnacious work of art. Be advised, this isn’t a tune for the faint of heart. It is a video that lives up to its name, a video that is powered by aggression. Watch and enjoy!
