What We Liked: Catchy song, colorful visuals, video and music perfectly fit together
What We Didn’t Like: Outdatedand played out, themes from 20 years ago
California Rapper Teerah brings to us a catchy Rap song with a vid that complements the music almost perfectly. He rhymes about driving down Fairmont Ave and reminiscing about his childhood growing up in the hood. The song is memorable and sticks in your head, and Teerah has good rap skills. But certain elements in both the song and the video are a little outdated and played out.
The scenes of Teerah driving down the street in different parts of his childhood neighborhood are colorful and interesting. However the concept of rolling down the street and smoking a blunt is just a re-hashing of Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice,” which was a hit almost 20 years ago! This dates Teerah’s music and makes it seem unoriginal. Even some of the visuals are from 20 years ago– the low rider bike and the little kid wearing mini gangsta clothing was seen in music videos at the height of gangsta rap in the early 90’s. But despite these shortcomings, Teerah’s video is still eye-catching, and the visuals go rightly with the lyrics of the song. For that, he should be applauded!
