“On the Contrary” has a nice beat, good background music, and competent rhyming. Dunn has a nice tone to his voice, and great skills. The lyrics are good, with references to Tia and Tamera, Johnnie Cochran, and so on. “Water” has a nice instrumentation, starting out with bongos and segueing into a good beat and a scratchy record-sound that gives the song an old school vibe. Again, Dunn’s rhymes are on point, and the song is catchy. On the song “The Cool,” the piano in the intro is great, but seems a little out of place with Dunn’s rapping. But it gives the song a unique twist, and keeps the listener’s attention. But at 1:38 its way too short to really get into it and enjoy it. And the sampling of an Anita Baker song is genius.
Taylor Dunn has mad skills and has what it takes to succeed in the Rap game. Great beats, catchy hooks, and good rhyming skills should keep him on top. If he keeps it up with his creative, unique ideas, there is no stopping Dunn from having a great career!
