TR Remsen is an artist from upstate New York that creates powerful, dark, cerebral rock music that showcases his guitar and harmonica skills. He has talent that shines through in his music, and there is potential for him to have success in the rock world.
“Maniac on the Highway” is a catchy, Hard Rock tune that has great instrumentation and a dark feel to it. The guitars featured on this track are phenomenal, and the guitar solo in the middle is mind blowing. Remsen’s harmonica playing also adds a nice unique twist to the music, and his talent is evident. The downside is the poor singing featured on the song. The vocals are not good at all, and it distracts the listener from really hearing the great skill Remsen has with the guitar and harmonica. “Last Day to Love” is another good, solid rock song that features hard, crunchy guitars, and great accompanying drums and instrumentation. The song would be good just as an instrumental, but again the vocals take away from the overall effect of the music. Lastly, “Dreams of Love” features great guitar but horrible vocals. The song has a hard rock, early Ozzy vibe to it, and features thrashing guitars and a dark, moody beat. The metal-lite composition gets your head banging, and even the hardest of the hardcore rockers could appreciate this song. But the injured cat wailings that are passed off as singing have the tendency to make the listener cringe. More instrumentation and less singing would be beneficial to the track.
TR Remsen offers listeners some hard rockin’, dark feeling, emotional music. His raw talent is evident through the phenomenal guitar and harmonica featured throughout his music. The only downfall is the vocals. If more work is done on this one facet, Remsen has the ability to create compelling music that will leave listeners wanting more.
