Mindset X
Singer/Guitarist Steve Haidaichuk, drummer Adam Cote, and bass player and Jerry Houle make up the Hard Rock/Alternative band Mindset X. Based out of Salem, NH this band knows how to bring the blistering lyrics and punishing beats. Bringing to mind successful bands such as Korn and Tool, this band has the talent to put out music just as good as those accomplished artists.
“Dirty Lil Freak” combines a funky beat with hard-hitting guitars and singer Haidaichuk’s snarly, throaty vocals. It’s catchy, with great guitars and drums. It brings to mind rock groups such as Living Colour and Disturbed. Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday Mr. President” starts out the band’s next song, “New Religion.” It’s a song about the usual rock lifestyle– sex, drugs, and Rock and Roll. While the track has a good beat and interesting elements– such as the lead singer rapping mid-song, the subject matter is a tad clichéd. It’s a tired premise that’s been done countless times before. “So Far Gone” is a slower, more somber song from the band. Haidaichuk sings of being betrayed by someone he loves, and these lyrics along side the mournful vibe of the song is a bit depressing. The saving grace is the sick guitar showcased in the song.
Mindset X is a band with lots of talent and loads of potential. If they stay away from clichéd, played out subject matter, they can go far in the rock world. They are an icredible Rock band that has what it takes to become successful!
