Native Los Angelena Raquel Rodriguez is an R&B/Soul/Jazz powerhouse that effortlessly creates good music with emotional lyrics and great compositions. Backed by a phenomenal band, her sweet, sultry voice pulls the listener in for awesome auditory experience. One you are sucked in, there is no looking back.
“Already Beat” showcases Rodriguez’s pleasant, smoky voice, which is complemented by the band’s great instrumentation. The piano, drums, guitars, and horns provide a nice jazzy feel to the song, and the track is very catchy. The guitar that comes in mid-song is off the charts– the bluesy style adds a nice Rock touch to the song. When the horns come in– the overall effect blows the listener away. “Not My Night” starts out with great instrumentation. The guitars and horns come together to create a nice, slinky and funky sound. Here, Rodriguez’s singing is more subdued, but not at all less effective. She hits all of the notes flawlessly, and the tone of her voice is soothing. This particular track has an easy-listening, jazzy feel that is pleasing to the ear. The best song is “Tell Me Why,” with Rodriguez’s powerful voice front and center– only joined by the guitar and piano. Her vocal skills are apparent on this song, and the raw emotion she sings with is really felt while listening to the lyrics. She sings about breaking free from and leaving a lover and the listener can feel everything she does by the heartfelt way she sings. It’s a powerful song, with remarkable vocal skills and outstanding guitar playing.
Raquel Rodriguez is very talented and her songs are great to listen to. Her vocals are smooth, powerful, and pleasant, and her back-up band provides the perfect backdrop for her lovely voice. Her style of Soul, Jazz, and R&B creates a refreshing type of music that sounds so much better than a lot of the computerized, auto-tuned offerings played over and over on the radio today. Rodriguez has a lot to offer, and it’s only a matter of time before she enjoys great success!
