Political Animals
Beasts from the East
Political Animals, one of the underground’s most consistent Hip-Hop acts, is back with another sensational release. Their latest, Egobese, is eleven tracks of hotness. Each record is ready to melt through wires, woofers, and tweeters with the swiftness. Egobese continues where their previous release When Animals Attack left off, paying homage to the pillars of Hip-Hop while and giving the listener an entertaining and enjoyable experience.
From the moment you hit play, The Animals command your attention. Their intro, “Altered Beasts”, sets the tone for everything that follows. Hard drums (courtesy of Trenton Wright) coincide with a bevy vocal samples (sliced and diced by DJ Neb) creating beautifully crafted organized noise. That record is followed by the bass heavy Clint Beastwood. Bassist Jen Harper gets ill with the strings while the group’s front man Soltorios Fedeli proves why he is an unstoppable verbal force. Other stand out records on Egobese are its two lead singles, “Man The Mic” and “Who Want What” (you can check out the visuals for both below), Bang Bang, and PSA.
Political Animals’ Egobese is essential for the avid Hip-Hop head. The beats, rhymes, samples, concepts and marketing (paying homage to one of Sega’s hottest titles in a creative way definitely gets props) are all solid. This is a well put together album that you’ll enjoy from start to finish. Cop the album and be sure to visit their online store to grab your merch. You can thank me later.
