Peachy Keene is an Indie Rock/Pop band from LA that is fronted by sisters (Danielle and Christine Clement). Their latest release, “Weightless in Wonder,” is an interesting mix of Alt. Rock and 90’s throwback tunes that showcase the band’s talents.
On the first track, “Keep Your Distance,” the vocals are good and the music almost sounds like something a girl group from the 50’s would have done way back then. This sound mixed with the Rock elements make an interesting auditory experience. The song has a dreamy, ethereal feel to it, and would work well on Alt. Rock radio stations across the country. “Werewolf” is a darker song with an edgier sound. It sounds like something that would have been popular in the 90’s at a Lilith Fair concert. The vocals are strong and the instrumentation is spot on. The harmonizing between the sisters is great also. On “Ghosts and Thieves” the band tackles a slower song; it’s a very emotional affair that you can feel through the lyrics. The added touch of the piano works on this song very well, and the song sticks in your head. It’s the type of song you can imagine playing in the background of some angsty show on the CW network. The raw emotion heard in the vocals and the dark feel of the song stays with you long after the song is over.
Peachy Keene is a band with talent and a throwback 90’s vibe, and the harmonizing between the sisters is something unique and interesting. “Weightless in Wonder” has some pretty solid songs, although they do run the risk of sounding a little dated. But despite this, the songs are still enjoyable to listen to and the talent of the band is quite apparent!
