What’s good, good people? It’s New Music Monday!!! Let’s get the week started off right with some outstanding new music. We’ve got sights and sounds that will help you get through not only today, but the remainder of the week. So while you’re holding it down at work, we’ll hold it down with a soundtrack featuring artists from various points across the globe.
R&B has seemed to have lost its edge over the past decade. It seems as if today’s crooners have forgotten how to swoon a young lady in a respective manner. Enter the Phenom from Phoenix, singer/songwriter Donny Ray. Ray’s soothing voice is almost pitch perfect as he professes his feelings for his lady love on the King interpolated “Supernatural Love”. His tender tenor serenades the seductively chopped sample and pounding kicks and claps. Bao Nguyen’s directorial skills are right on par with the pace of the music. The lighting effects, continuity and pacing all made for a great visual experience. I look forward to seeing more collaboration between the two in the future. Check out the official Supernatural Love video below and click here to listen to more music from this amazingly creative artist.
Hailing from Brussels is the Electronic music collective ZenToy. Their latest single “Paradise” is as amped as they come. It’s an electrifyingly infectious groove that will keep you motivated throughout the day. The track’s name says it all; the music will transport you to your own personal paradise as you indulge perfectly sequenced electronic bleeps and blips. The accompanying video is just as amped. The storyline was spot on with the fast-paced tempo of the music. It was interesting and kept my attention for the duration and I’m sure you’ll feel the same. Watch the video below then head over to their official Soundcloud page for more music.
Rounding out our New Music Monday triad of emerging musicians is one of my favorite new artists, Mike Larry Draw. The Bronx emcee has always put out innovative sounds and his latest offering, “Crescendo” is no different. Everything from the piano laced intro to Draw’s fierce lyrical content and flow is spot on. The switch-ups throughout the song are an added plus gives Draw room to dominate the rhythm like the Patriots just did to the Bengals this past weekend (sorry Bengals fans). In addition to this dope track, Mike recently teamed up with Seattle producer/emcee Araless and created “CloudCatchers” a timeless Hip-Hop classic produced by Smear. The visuals are stripped down but provide the perfect backdrop to consume powerful punchlines delivered by these emcees. You can vibe to it all below.
