Texas rap artist Panetrick Gooden is creating songs with catchy beats and blazing rhymes. His skill is evident in his songs, but he must be careful of sounding to much like other artists already on the charts. If he sticks to more original, fresh ideas in his music, Gooden will go far in the Rap world.

“Suave Chain” is a song with a good, catchy beat that showcases Gooden’s capable rhyming skills. His flow is on point and his vocal tone is pleasing to the ear. And despite the beat being repetitive, the song keeps the listener’s attention and does not become boring or tedious. “Cam Newton” samples rapper Drake’s song “Headlines,” with Gooden rapping over the familiar backing beat. Again, Gooden’s rap skills are tight and on par with any Rap artist on the charts these days. The only disappointment is the lack of originality– all the listener can do is think of the Drake tune and compare it to Gooden’s, which takes away from Gooden’s talent. On the song “Pj Return of Walter” it sounds like a typical Dirty South track, from the tinny drum machine down to the shouting vocals. This particular song is one of Gooden’s weaker ones. It is mostly comprised of yelled lyrics about haters and punk ass ni99as. This format is tired, and only makes Gooden look like he is trying too hard to sound tough.

Gooden has great rap skills that unfortunately are sometimes overshadowed by tired formats and retread beats done better by more well-known artists. If Gooden focuses on creating his own beats, and strives to incorporate fresh ideas and components into his songs, there is nowhere for this promising artist to go but up. With some slight changes, Gooden has what it takes to become better known in the industry.
