Rap group DNA is made up of duo Drac and Antalyst.  Both are talented rhymers, and have a good sense of what hot beats to put in each song to perfectly complement the lyrics. The theme of aliens and extraterrestrial life on their new EP “S.E.T.I” brings a uniqueness to their music, and this is an intriguing and fresh spin on rap music and sets this group apart from other rap acts.

“Destroy and Rebuild” is a song that showcases the duo’s great rap skills. But unfortunately, both rappers sound so similar that its sometimes difficult to tell them apart. And with some lines running over others, having the two voices rapping at the same time can be a bit disorienting. But the background beat is hot, and this saves the song from being too confusing and distracting. “Sound of Science” featuring Magnificent Ruffians starts out with the sound of a record scratching, and then the interesting, almost other worldly background music begins. Again, the rapping is good and the song gets your foot tapping. The downfall is that the track becomes boring after awhile, due to the repetitive nature of the beat. Its as though the group recorded the music and then just put it on a continuous loop as Drac and Antalyst rap over it. This becomes tedious, and the listener loses interest in the song. “S.E.T.I” starts out with audio of an astronaut communicating with ground control– this sets the scene for the focus of the song. DNA rap about UFOs and searching for extraterrestrial intelligence. The rhyming skills are on point, but this particular song does not have a particularly memorable or interesting beat. And again, the song becomes repetitive and boring. The duo need to experiment with song breaks and other ways to break the monotony of the music. This will help to make the listeners keep wanting to listen to the songs instead of becoming bored with the subject matter.

DNA is made up of two talented rappers who have mad skills and interesting ideas about alien life existing in the universe. This makes them unique, and put them in their own niche. But some elements of their music need work– such as repetitive beats and similar rap styles making it difficult to follow which rapper is rhyming which lines. But with some work on these aspects, DNA has the potential to make waves in the rap world.
