Toronto artist Mr. Bennett is entering the scene with some new, fresh music. However, there’s definitely room for improvement in the songwriting and vocal departments. With his guitar-driven songs and emotional lyrics, Bennett is looking to make a mark on the music scene.
“She’s Just a Girl” is a slower song with a brooding vibe. The guitar playing is good and Bennett’s voice is deep and raw with emotion. However, his vocals are a little off-key which is distracting at times. The song is a bit tedious; the lyrics are too simple f the same lines repeated over and over again. “The Land I’m Thinking Of” is another slow, monotonous song that is not very memorable. The lyrics are very rudimentary. Bennett is trying too hard to be the next Bob Dylan, and doesn’t really carry it off. “I Think You Know” is faster in tempo, has good guitar playing and has more interesting lyrics. It’s funky, catchy, and more upbeat, but again, the singing is subpar.
Mr. Bennett is on his way to a successful music career but needs to work on his vocals and lyrics. With more catchy tunes, interesting subject matter, and improved vocals, he will have great success in the music world!
