You gotta love a good concept video, especially one that uses crazy imagery to tell a good story. Enter Atlanta representer, Loch. Straight from his Afro American Horror Story mixtape is his latest song/video, “Spaz Out”. The visuals are somewhat gruesome but very appealing and will keep you entertained while tuning in.
Loch’s manic, in-your-face flow is live and direct as he spits horror rhymes over an ill Doombeatz production. The song is dark and sinister; it features creepy pulsating key synths and hard hitting, head nodding drums that command your attention. The visuals are equally striking. Director Simahlee does a good job at capturing Loch “spazing out” on a variety of victims.
The video has a few continuity issues that could have been addressed to add validity to the storyline. For example, the fake blood on Loch’s body in the opening scenes looked more like grandma’s gravy than blood. There wasn’t any blood on Loch’s clothes after attacking his girl with a pair of scissors or smashing the wack rappers with a bat. When you’re creating theatrical music videos it’s all about maintaining continuity. It is very easy to lose your viewer without it.
Overall, this was a pretty solid video. It proves that you don’t need a huge budget to connect with your audience. Despite the continuity errors the video easily kept me engaged and was certainly worth the time spent to view it. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
