We take you back to Hip-Hop’s Golden Era with new music from Down East Music Group artist, Will Boy.
We’ll have you nodding your head to the slick sounds of Ukraine Drum and Bass producer Skylinned
And We’ll be checking out the sounds of one of my favorite new Indie bands . I’m talking about Chi-Town’s own, AfterSound.
But first, allow me to hit you with some hot new music from Pedwell. He’s a one man gang in his own right. He writes, he sings, he produces, he creates art that will soon top charts all over the world. He just released Get That Thing, a high powered EP that is absolutely hot! Let’s check out the title track. Here’s “Get That Thing”, Live in the Lab..
(Pedwell - Get That Thing)
Live in the Lab, reviewing all genres, all independent, all the time that was Pedwell with “Get That Thing”.
I’m digging the vibe of the EP. It’s a conceptual masterpiece, hitting a variety of topics from being love struck on “Strung Out” to getting lifted on “Smoke One”. The song that won me over was “Get That Thing”. The positive vibes are in full effect as Pedwell challenges you to find the one thing you love and do everything you can to get it. So if its school, pursuing a career in music or getting your own start-up off the ground, go for it. And in the immortal words of the Jedi Master himself, (Yoda Clip)
I give this E.P a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would have given it a five but Pedwell’s tone is a little too similar to another Canadian group (who will remain nameless). I’m sure that you know who I’m talking about. If not, just close your eyes and take another listen. However Get That Thing is an amazing piece filled with loads of inspiration. The ebb and flow of Pedwell’s tone flows smoothly with the backing instrumentation. As his voice inflects, so does the instrumentation as they build up and intertwine like like interlocking vines of ivy. But its the conceptual aspect of the EP that will win you over.
Add this inspirational EP to your playlist by heading over to pedwell music dot com and cop Get That Thing as well as other dope releases.

Live in the Lab, One Man Gang. You need to get familiar with this cat. This is Uriah with “Always” on Amped Sounds dot Com
(Uriah - Always)
Live in the Lab, One Man Gang, Reviewing all music, all independent , all the time. That was Uriah with Always from his upcoming EP, Parables. We've been vibing with Uriah for quite some time and and he has consistently put out awesome music. His new single, "Always", picks up where his last release, Sound of Light left off, serenading ears with beautiful sounds. On Always, he does as a real man should. He freely expresses his emotions for that special lady. Uriah’s unique voice stands tall in the forefront as an acoustic guitar, melodic synths, 808 kick and 808 snap give the perfect backdrop.
Overall I give Uriah’s new single a solid 4 stars. It’s a smooth groove that you can rock to from the living room to the bedroom and back again. His EP, Parables is dropping soon, and if this is any indication of how it will be, you should prepare yourself for greatness. Get updates, news, and your copy of Parables from his website, this is Uriah dot com and Like his Facebook page facebook.com/this is Uriah.

Live in the Lab One Man Gang, this is Will Boy with New Old on ampedsounds dot com
(Will Boy - New Old)
You’re tuned into Live in the Lab on Amped Sounds dot Com. That was Will Boy with "New Old". If your’re a sample head like I am then you know that you can’t go wrong if you sample Synthetic Substitution. You just can’t. And Will Boy did his thing on this jawn. I know you got that nostalgic feeling when you heard that break kick in! Yo hit me with it one more time…
(Synthetic Substitution insert)
Man! This song immediately transported me back to 88 when I was rocking the Cazelle frames and Todd 1 sweats. But enough about that. Will Boy embodied the spirit of the Golden Era and dropped some cool lines. His flow was pretty solid. The only problem was that a lot of the words were unclear, which took away from the song’s intensity. No break, no matter how good, can cover that up, you feel me?My advice to Will Boy is to redo this track and enunciate, enunciate, enunciate! Trust me, that one tweak is all it needs.
Overall I give this jawn a 3. It’s solid, but needs a little help on the execution tip to rate it any higher. But on a good note, I love the Old School feel of the song and regardless of the enunciation issue I was nodding my head through the whole song. Plus you can never go wrong with Synthetic Substitution, just ask Hanson, Naughty by Nature or De La Soul. Follow Will Boy on Twitter, @Will_Boy89 for tour dates, new mixtape releases and more.
This is Live in the Lab. Coming up, we’re headed to the Ukraine to rock out to the sounds of Skylined. Live in the Lab on Amped Sounds dot Com
Live in the Lab reviewing all genres, all independent, all the time. This is Skylined with “Sunhine” on Amped Sounds dot com.
(Skylined - Sunshine)
You’re listening to Live in the Lab. That was Skylined with Sunshine off his new album Drumscape. This guy is dope! Straight up and down! I’m surprised that he isn’t already famous. Drumscape is 10 tracks that live up to its namesake. This broad collection of instrumentals are treats for a pair of tech 12’s, Numarks, or whatever turntables you use. The Amen break all over this album, either played straight out or chopped up into segments. And if you’re unfamiliar with the Amen Break, I’ll give you a little taste
(Amen Break insert).
I felt like I was in Blade or the Matrix when I was listening to this album. Drumscape was made for movie fight scenes. I’m telling you. My favorite cut is “Big Beat”, but "Sunshine", "Running", and "Free Road" are all dope in their own right. Skylined deviates from the Amen Break on the slow flow track Neighborhood which offers a good splash of variance and rounds out the LP.
Drumscape gets the Certified Amped stamp of approval with 4.5 stars. This is an excellent mix to throw on at a party, on a long drive or if you need that extra push while on that final lap on the track. So what you need to do is open up a new internet window and head over to skylined dot bandcamp dot com and download this album for free! It get’s no better than that. Check out more of his music on Soundcloud and be sure to connect with him on Google plus.

Live in the Lab reviewing all genres, all independent, all the time this is AfterSound with Find a Way on Amped Sounds dot Com
(AfterSound - Find a Way)
You’re tuned in to Live in the Lab that was AfterSound with "Find a Way" on Amped Sounds dot Com. Yo do you remember that video game Rock Band? That’s the centerpiece of the band and how it’s members Zain and Kevin connected. Through that game, these two spellbinding musicians were able to connect and create this timeless gem. And who says video games aren't good for you? Anyways, AfterSound has just dropped its musical payload, the phenomenal Find A Way on the masses. It’s a creative blend of Rock, Electronic, and Dub music that will have you banging your head for hours on in. This track is ready for prime time and their creative music video has Youtubers clamoring, getting over 4 thousand hits in just a few weeks.
Overall I give this song a full 5 stars. Everything about this song from the vocal presentation to the powerful instrumentation to the inspirational concept converges in unison, creating the ultimate musical experience. The song defies genres, labels and classes and is in itself, awesome music. You have got to get a hold of this song! Cop it on iTunes and check out the video on the AfterSound YouTube channel.
