Today we’ll be checking out music from The Harliss Sweetwater Band, Shayna, and The Morning Birds. But first, I have the latest from Rap/Rock collective Ugo. This Bostonian trio is taking the world by storm! Everything from the coarse instrumentation to the smooth vocals and arrangements are spot on! Their latest self-titled release is absolutely amazing! Let’s check out one of my favorite singles from the EP. Here’s Ugo with “Lucky Day”, Live in the Lab.
(audio: Ugo – Lucky Day)
You’re tuned in to Live in the Lab on Amped Sounds dot Com. That was Ugo with “Lucky Day”. There’s something special about these guys. They take the Rap/Rock mashup to new heights, soaring over their peers with their lush tunes and witty concepts. The Rock side of the EP is solid and everything from an instrumental standpoint is on point. However, the rhymes could be better. Don’t get me wrong, Ray Duplesis does his thing, but I would have liked to see him rhyme with a little more passion. Overall I give Ugo’s new EP 4 out of 5 stars. The beats were awesome. I loved the way every song came together. The vocals were pretty good, and the Rap/Rock connection made for a great listening experience. You have to get your hands on this album! It’s one of those jawns that you’ll keep in heavy rotation without a doubt! Support their movement! Head over to their website, soundslikeugo.com, click on the music link and name your price for this amazing EP.

That was The Harliss Sweetwater Band with “Muddy Water” from their latest studio release Put it In Dirt. These guys are the epitome of Bluegrass Soul. Powered by Hot Rod Harliss’s striking voice, the band gives an outright perfect performance throughout this 11 cut classic. Let’s check out another record from this great group. Here’s “Don’t Keep Me Waiting”, Live in the Lab

You’re listening to Live in the Lab on Amped Sounds dot Com. That was The Harliss Sweetwater band with “Don’t Keep Me Waiting”. Did you hear the power in that guy’s voice? It’s like starting up a Harley and going full throttle! And the band… Good Lawd The Band! Those guys were killing it. Put It In Dirt is loaded with massive songs like this. I give this collection 4.5 out of 5 stars. The beats bang hard! Harliss has the vocal game on lock with his husky baritone. He’s got that Joe Cocker-esque thing happening. Very dope! The concepts are right on par with the genre, positive vibes and positive energy all around. Here’s what you need to do. Live in the Lab, One Man Gang, Here’s Shayna with Me vs. You. on Amped Sounds dot Com
(audio: Shenna – Me vs You)
Live in the Lab, One Man Gang...Reviewing all genres, all independent, all the time. That was Shayna with Me vs You. This girl is Fiyah!!! I would sing it in my Alisha Keys voice, but I don’t want to get sued. Move over Ariana, get out the way Iggy and make room for the next big thing in Pop music! This girl is the truth! You can’t just listen to her, you have to experience it! So let’s experience another single. Here’s “Stranger”, Live in the Lab. (audio: Shenna – Stranger) Live in the Lab, One Man Gang, Reviewing all music, all independent, all the time. We’re reviewing Dream in Color, the latest EP from Singer/Songwriter Shayna. This is a marvelous EP. The vocals are crisp and the music is on-point. She’s backed by one of the hottest Indie producers, Austin Bello of Forever the Sickest Kids. Where this EP shines is its concepts. Five songs cover a lot of ground. Her passionate tone is almost pitched perfect! A few notes were a little sketchy, but Shenna puts on an all-star performance. But she’s not just a skilled vocalist, she shines as an active member in her community, teaching musicians about the business of music and inspiring kids to chase after their dreams! That’s what’s up. This is a high caliber EP and gets the One Man Gang co-sign with a solid 4.5. Go cop Dream in Color by naming your price at shennamusic.bandcamp.com. And don’t be cheap, show her some love! You’re tuned in to Live in the Lab on ampedsounds.com. Coming up, We’ve got the unique sounds of The Morning Birds. Live in the Lab this is The Morning Birds with Bloom on Amped Sounds.com.
(audio: The Morning Birds – Bloom)
That was The Morning Birds with “Bloom”. They’ve taken music back to its roots, releasing a maxi-single which contains various mixes of this hit song. I love the genre mixtures of this track! There’s a little downbeat, do-wop, blues, and jazzy pop that makes you want to melt within the measures of musical bliss. I give this single a solid 4.5. There’s nothing but true musicianship on this track. The synths and percussion dance in unison to the melody. Each note is precisely placed and gives lead singer Jen Thorington plenty of room to spread her vocal wings. Her pitch is damn near flawless and is reminiscent of a young Beth Gibbons. It’s a spellbinding groove that you can vibe to over and over again. Jen and Sam we salute you for making such a great tune. Go cop this single on iTunes and learn more about the band on their website, themorningbirds.com
