Good instrumentation in the song, nice shots of the streets of Spain
Vocals too loud over the music, confusing imagery at the end of the vid
Indie Rock singer/songwriter Kevin Killmon’s video for “Hero” is very aesthetically pleasing. Shot in Spain, we see the Boston singer walking the graffiti filled streets as he sings his song. Although the music needs a little work, overall this video is an enjoyable experience.
The song is a decent song, with good backing instrumentation– the drums, piano, and guitar are spot on. It reminded me a little of Kings of Leon. Killmon has a nice tone to his voice, it sounds calm, soothing, and earnest. But the recording as a whole is unbalanced; particularly his voice seems to be way too loud in relation with the music. Maybe a more muted approach would work better. The visuals are good, with the graffiti and street art keeping your attention, but I didn’t really get the fire imagery at the end. I thought maybe it symbolized a hero saving someone from the fire, but was not really sure of the intention of the scene. But despite this slight confusion, I thought it still was a pretty good video.
