New York based Rock group Generator Ohm have a hard sound and an interesting video to go along with their song “Youth in Arms.” Done in a 70’s-ish sepia tone with a green tint, it has a nostalgic feel that goes along with the vintage Rock sound. The visuals are weird and a bit disturbing, but keep your attention.
The images are of the band members running through the woods, chasing each other with big sticks, hiding from one another, tackling each other, hitting each other with sticks and painting their faces with war paint. The music is loud, with great thrashing guitars and is pretty catchy. It sounds like an early Foo Fighters track. The scenes of the band playing their instruments in the woods are not really all that original, but the wild and crazy Lord of the Flies-type scenes keep the interest on high levels. At the end, the frenzied guitar playing fits perfectly with the scenes of the band members losing it in the woods, and finally just collapsing from exhaustion at the very end. The video is weird, but so weird that you want to keep watching. The premise is simple, but very effective.
