December – Alison Stewart
Interesting visuals, captivating storyline, catchy music
Vague, puzzling ending to the video
The Joys of December…
December’s U2 tribute video “Alison Stewart” contains radio-friendly music and interesting visuals. One never gets bored watching this vid and you can easily sing along to it.
The black and white imagery in the video is good, and we see many nice scenes of the city throughout. Filmed mostly in Dublin, the outside scenes are interesting. The storyline of the woman leaving signs for a young boy to follow all over the city is attention grabbing, and makes you want to see where the notes send the boy at the end. The song is good also, with an upbeat feel, good instrumentation, and catchy lyrics. When the lead vocalist sings “Time to be what we should be” you can’t help but feel upbeat and optimistic.
One criticism would be figuring out what the point of the video is. At the end we see the young boy running around and spray painting walls and light poles after receiving his final note. It is not clear what this means, and it’s not easy to figure out. But despite this, it is still an interesting video.
