This is a very well directed video that you will enjoy over and over again!
Swedish DJ duo Catfight has released an interesting, attention grabbing video for their single “Earthbound.” With a storyline that goes perfectly along with the lyrics of the song, and colorful scenery, the vid is pleasant to watch. Although the plot line is somber, the ending of the vid gives the viewer hope and a renewed gratefulness for life. Never once did I get bored with it, and the music was so catchy.
At the beginning of the vid, we see a woman standing at the edge of a cliff, contemplating whether to jump or not. The song starts up, which is a decent dance song with a good beat and nice vocals– although a little less Autotune would have been a better approach. As the video progresses, the story line of a troubled couple plays out– one minute they are lovey-dovey and making out, the next they are fighting and the male is abusing the female—(the same female that’s standing on the cliff in the beginning). As Catfight sing about being sick of “your mood swings” while standing near the ocean during sunset, the male in the vid drinks heavily while the woman cries and thinks about happier times. You start to really feel for this woman and are silently rooting that she escape from her abusive beau. At the end, there is a sense of relief as the woman decides not to jump.
I enjoyed both the video and the song. The song is catchy, with a great dance beat. The scenes play out well, with the visuals complementing the lyrics. The scenes with the ocean and the cliffs are beautiful, and all the elements of the video come together really well. Director Jay Veesualz did a good job, and Catfight did a great job with creating a dance song with a good message. I give it a thumbs up!
