Ohio has always been known for putting out high-caliber music and Dayton representative Ajax The Kid has released his single/video “Dreamer” for your listening and viewing pleasure. It’s a decent contribution but there’s definitely some room for improvement. Here’s my official $.02…
The Good: This kid has a lot of heart. You can tell by the words that he chooses to get his point across. He’s simplistic; he cleverly connects your story to his making the song relative. The production was decent. The light and air piano compliments Ajax’s monotone style fairly well. One thing is for certain; Ajax isn’t afraid to dream big and challenges each and every one of us to do the same.
The Bad: The visuals need massive work. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you can’t expect someone to stay glued to the screen if all you’re going to do is sit in front of the camera. It’s not entertaining and your view count won’t reach its maximum growth potential. Start thinking about the next video and what can be done to keep your audience enthused about it. Plan it out and make it happen.
Overall: While it’s apparent that Ajax’s visuals are in dire need of some help, his song is pretty solid. Would I recommend this video to someone else? Probably not, but I’d refer the song itself. My advice Ajax is for you to keep working on refining your talent, keep creating content that your target audience can relate to, and take a few video classes to help you develop your directing skills. Ajax The Kid is not yet an Ohio player, but definitely has the potential to play in Ohio. That’s my $.02. What’s yours?
