Rapper A-Dare is takes a daring step forward with his new video “Freedom”. A-Dare has drawn his line in the political sand. He delivers a powerful record accompanied by footage from several recent atrocities that were captured on film. His viewpoint is definitely heard regardless of support or opposition of it.
I like the concept behind the record and its accompanying visuals, but the execution missed the mark. The song itself is dope. A-Dare constructs an anthemic track using slick samples that will make you want to raise your fists and become the rage that rebels against the machine. But when you watch the video, what you see is an artist that broke out a camera and recorded on an impulse. That really takes away from its potential and overall political impact. Additional camera angles and a few cosmetic editing changes would have made for a better viewing experience.
I give A-Dare props for using his voice as an artist to amplify the need for immediate solutions to the inequities and injustices that plague all countries around the world. Though the visuals are lacking I highly suggest checking out this video. I think you’ll be enlightened and entertained.
